Sydney joined the group in 2010 and works on the cQED/optomechanics experiment. During her time in Berkeley, the experiment has focused on quantum measurement, observing such phenomena as Ponderomotive Squeezing and the Standard Quantum Limit of force sensitivity.

She is involved with the Berkeley Compass Project, an organization devoted to improving undergraduate education and diversity in the physical sciences at Berkeley.

She is supported by the Department of Defense (DoD) through the National Defense Science & Engineering Graduate Fellowship (NDSEG) Program.
