Location information

The laboratory tour will take place in the Berkeley Physics Department, located in Birge and LeConte Halls on the UC Berkeley campus. The buildings are located near the Campanile clock tower, which is a landmark visible from afar. You will enter the buildings under the breezeway that connects Birge and LeConte Halls, just uphill from the Campanile. You might want to look up a campus map.

The open laboratories are found at the following locations:

Haffner group labs: 144 LeConte

Mueller group labs: B131 Birge

Siddiqi group labs: 119 LeConte

Stamper-Kurn group labs: B173 Birge, B167 Birge, B123 Birge

Central gathering space: If you're lost or looking for snacks and food, come to the AMO Interactions space, 301 LeConte.

Transportation options

Several options:

1. Several of us (Irfan Siddiqi, Hartmut Haffner, and several group members) will be driving from the hotel to campus, and can bring people with them in their cars and vans. They will gather up people in the lobby of the hotel around 6:15 pm.
2. The Doubletree Hotel runs a shuttle bus that departs on the hour. We have reserved 6 spots on the 6 pm shuttle and 7 spots on the 7 pm shuttle. You might ask them to bring you to the UC Berkeley campus through the Gayley Road (east side of campus) gate.
3. Another transportation option is the AC Transit bus. The bus leaves from the Berkeley Marina (near the corner of University and Marina), but infrequently (schedule says 525 pm, 557 pm, 640 pm), so if you're taking the bus make sure to leave on time to get to the bus stop. You might look up the "Next Bus" app to get real-time schedule information. The bus takes about 25 minutes to bring you to the stop at the corner of Durant and College. From there, you would walk north on College to enter campus and continue to the Department, about a 10 minute walk altogether. Bus fare is $2.10; you'll need exact change. See here for information

To return to the hotel, you would either call up the hotel and ask for a shuttle van to come pick you up, or return via bus or cab, or ask for a ride back from one of us.
