Abstract

 This talk will review several many-body phases which may be realized with
fermionic and multicomponent bosonic atoms confined in optical potentials
created by standing light waves. The interplay of interactions and disorder for atoms
in quasi one-dimensional magnetic microtraps will also be discussed.
