"Atom Chips and Interferometers"

Atom chips are microfabricated devices which are used to trap, move, and probe clouds of cold atoms in close proximity to the chip surface. Two relatively long standing technical goals and active lines of research with these chips include the creation of on-chip, cold-atom, guided-matter-wave interferometers and the incorporation of high Q optical resonators coupled to cold atoms on-chip. This talk will present an overview on-chip atomic and optical interferometers and detail recent work in the UC Berkeley Ultracold Atomic Physics group in this area.
