"A Practical Guide to Low Frequency Magnetic Shielding"

The presentation is intended for the scientist and engineer as an introduction to the important considerations in the design of low frequency magnetic shields for scientific applications. It will cover definition of important terms; a discussion of magnetic shielding mechanisms and the common materials used for both room temperature and cryogenic shielding applications. Detailed information will be provided on design guidelines; calculating the shielding factor; and fabrication and handling of magnetic shields. Several special shielding applications will be discussed.
