Dipolar collisions in ultracold dysprosium Bose and Fermi gases

The collisions between ultracold atomic gases can typically be characterized by a single parameter, the scattering length. Dysprosium, however, is highly magnetic and not spherically symmetric, complicating the relatively simple model often used for atom-atom interactions. In this talk I will present our work measuring the elastic and inelastic scattering properties of ultracold dysprosium and the role of Bose and Fermi statistics in such collisions.
