A Pumped Atom Laser
John Close

Over the last years, we have concentrated, theoretically and experimentally, on developing the atom laser as a useful tool for fundamental studies in physics and for possible applications to precision measurement. We have studied the flux, the spatial mode, and pumping the condensate while out-coupling to produce a continuous atom laser beam. We are working on quadrature squeezing the atom laser beam and detecting the squeezing with an atomic homodyne detector. In this talk, I will describe the recent past, present and future of our research program in BEC and atom lasers.
